🌞 Rajasthan Leads the Charge in India's Renewable Energy Push

Rajasthan is making big moves in clean energy and is quickly becoming a national leader in renewable power generation. Over the past year and a half, the state has added an impressive 10,775 MW of renewable energy, bringing its total capacity to more than 33,000 MW.

Looking ahead, Rajasthan plans to contribute over 20% of India’s national renewable energy goal of 500 GW by 2030. The bulk of this progress is being driven by solar power. Right now, solar parks in the state are producing 4,630 MW, with another 10,450 MW currently under construction. To scale further, Rajasthan has partnered with central agencies to secure deals totaling more than 41,000 MW in additional renewable projects.

The state is also focusing on future-ready technologies like battery energy storage and green hydrogen. It’s aiming for 10 GW of storage capacity and hopes to produce 2,000 kilotonnes of green hydrogen per year by the end of the decade. As part of its efforts to make clean power more accessible, Rajasthan plans to offer up to 150 units of free electricity each month through community energy storage systems.

One key challenge is land availability for expanding solar infrastructure. To solve this, the state is turning to agrivoltaics — a method that combines farming and solar energy by placing solar panels over agricultural fields. This not only helps conserve land but also gives farmers an extra source of income and can even boost crop productivity.

With a clear vision and innovative strategies, Rajasthan is setting an example for other states on how to power progress sustainably.
