Vaibhav's cricketing journey began in 2018 when he enrolled in the Gennex Cricket Academy in Patna. Mentored by Manish Ojha, a former Ranji Trophy player, Vaibhav showed immense promise early on. Despite the challenges, he regularly traveled nearly 90 kilometers from his village to train — a testament to his passion and commitment.
In early 2024, at just 12 years and 284 days, Vaibhav made his first-class debut for Bihar in the Ranji Trophy, one of the youngest players ever to do so. His name started gaining momentum after he smashed a 58-ball century in a youth Test against Australia U-19 — the fastest century by any Indian in junior Test history.

With 11 sixes and 7 boundaries, he helped his team chase down a target of 209 in just 15.5 overs. The innings broke multiple records — making him the youngest player to score a T20 century in men's cricket and second-fastest to do it in IPL history, just behind Chris Gayle’s 30-ball record.
